Lake Chelan Helicopters

The most exciting part of our weekend was going up for a helicopter ride with Lake Chelan Helicopters!

We've never been in a helicopter before!  Last fall, we took an old timey airplane ride around Seattle, but this was such a different experience for a number of reasons:  we could see outside the aircraft much easier, there was a lot more personal interaction with our pilot, Dale, and there was the amazing landscape around Manson.

Dale was the perfect tour guide!  A local who grew up in the area, he is a wealth of knowledge around the landscape and the community.
We got picked up right at our hotel; we felt like celebrities!

Panoramic view of our awesome hotel (more about that tomorrow!)

^  I took so many photos of the scene above trying to capture how amazingly gorgeous it was, especially with the sunset, but you'll just have to take my word for it!
Dale took us up to the nearby mountains and we landed on Cooper's Mountain, a popular place for Dale to  take couples on romantic picnics.
Gorgeous view, right??

As you can see, Lake Chelan, Manson, and the surrounding area is a true agricultural community.

The sunset was so pretty from up in the helicopter!!!

There's our hotel, Mountain View Lodge, with the pretty lake behind it:

Dale tailors each ride to what you want to see and do, so make sure to talk to him about what your dream ride entails!

Thank you Dale for a memorable and exciting helicopter tour!

North Shore Cafe

Nestled in the heart of downtown Manson is the North Shore Cafe.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it's a great place to find meal at any time of day.  The quaint dining room is soon getting expanded into the location next door.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at North Shore Cafe during our stay in Manson recently.

Raul's Mushroom Crostinis were amazing!!  We had to stop ourselves from licking the plate! Delicious!
Following that amazing appetizer, we moved onto salads, chicken piccata, and four cheese ravioli. Delicious!

The co-owner, Scott,  is the grandson of the original owners, and took over with his cousin last June. It was originally opened as an Inn back in 1978 by Scott's grandparents. Meanwhile, Scott owned another restaurant, Scotty's, and used that experience to turn the Inn into North Shore Cafe.
Thanks for having us!

Green Dot Sub Shop

Freakin' Steheiken.

Steheiken is a community at the Northern most tip of Lake Chelan, but in Manson, it's perhaps more well known by the famous 'Freakin Steheiken' sub at Green Dot Sub Shop.  Tim and I tried one and couldn't believe how delicious it was!  Do yourself a favor and try one!
Mmmm!

Not only do they make a whole list of signature and classic subs, they also have salads, soups, pulled pork, and a hamburger sub! Make sure to look over the signature sub combinations, they are unique and delicious!

The real kicker is that they have over 30 flavors of soft serve and fro yo!

Jeff and Debbie, the owners, are the friendliest, nicest people.  They greatest us with big smiles and made us feel at home while enjoying lunch.  They started their sub shop three years ago in an old house off the main road into town, and business has been booming ever since.  They decided to open the brand up to franchise opportunities and their second location is opening in Richland, WA on June 1st.

One of the fun features of Green Dot is that they'll deliver to your hotel room at Mountain View Lodge....or poolside!  That's right!  They'll hand deliver your order to the pool or hot tub!  Pretty amazing if you ask me!
Green Dot Sub Shop is a must stop in Manson!
