Stress/Headache Relief

Sometimes, in order to climb a mountain, you have to just keep putting one foot in front of other.  

One of the small tricks I'm using to manage my anxiety is this tin filled with soothing scents.  
I used an Altoids tin to mix coconut oil with lavender and peppermint essential oils.  Lavender is known as a soothing scent that helps calm the system and decrease stress (I put a drop in my mascara tube too!  It's a natural disinfectant and helps sooth itchy eyes).  Peppermint is good for headaches and nausea.

  • ~1/2 cup coconut oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Peppermint essential oil (optional)


  1. Melt the coconut oil in the microwave
  2. Add essential oil to the strength of your preference
  3. Let the oil cool back to solid form. 

I spent years dismissing the benefits of lavender because I was told too many times in my life to just smell some lavender in order to fall asleep.   Sorry doctors, doesn't do the trick for me!  But now I appreciate the powerful scent's soothing properties.    In addition to inhaling the smell of lavender, you can also rub some of the oil on your temples.  I find it's nice just to have the lavender and peppermint wafting around as I'm working.
The oil melts when the air is too warm, so you might need to keep it in the fridge to keep the oil solid, depending on which environment you're using it in.
