Knee High Stocking Company

Tim and I recently went to a fun little speakeasy with a couple friends of ours!

The Knee High Stocking Co isn't really your typical speakeasy.  Usually, you need to know some sort of secret to get it, whether that be a secret knock, knowing a special number, a secret entrance, etc.  This place required reservations and a door bell, which is still a lot of fun for easily amused kids like I!
I'm completely obsessed with these fun little bars!  The decor is always so gorgeously 20's themed, everyone looks nice, and the drinks are to die for!
Please excuse the crappy cell phone pics!

Round one!
The most delicious pretzel and cheddar dipping sauce ever!
Such yummy tots!
Round two!

Yum yum yum!  I can't wait to try out more speakeasy's in Seattle!

DIY Window Valence

One night, I was staring at the back wall of our dining room, wondering what I don't like about it, which is something I do all the time.  And then I decided that our tiny window needed a DIY window valance!
My computer deleted all the before/progress shots, so I only have afters for you!  Well actually, they're almost afters!  I have clips on the ribbon while it dried in place, but you get the gist!!
I pretty much just googled "DIY window valance" and went along with all the instructions I could find.
I was pretty nervous I would mess it up because I'm not good at measurements like this, but I think it turned out rather well!
The fabric has unwrinkled a little more after hanging for awhile!

This is going to be one of the last projects I share from our cozy little condo...ever!  I'll explain that teaser soon enough!

Scenes from the week

90% of the time if Tim and I are going out somewhere, we end up at Naked City Taphouse
It's our favorite restaurant/brewery/bar/whatever.
Beers at Naked City Brewery
This place is fantastic!  Both the food menu and beer lists are changing constantly, so you almost never have the same thing!  Their food is DELICIOUS, and includes lots and lots of vegan options- and no, we're not just talking the standard old Boca/Morning Star burger here.  Their burgers are include Field Roast and beets and are literally the best veggies burgers you'll ever have. Plus they a number of other well thought out, delicious items.  So very yummy!!  Plus, you know, the beer.
The other half of the time we go out, it's mostly to Aloha Ramen, which is literally the best meal in the world.  Seriously, I can't get enough.
Tan Tan Ramen and Garlic Fried Rice at Aloha Ramen
One night as we were walking to Naked City, we passed this tiny hidden door that a couple people were going through.  When they opened the door, we heard some loud music, so we just followed them in, and stumbled upon a cool art exhibit/big party!

The space had a very NYC loft style to it, and when you went down even further, there was a much crazier party going on with free wine and beer all over!
On that same block, we got a new hot dog place with lots of veggie options!  We ate these walking down the sidewalk, pretending we lived in New York.

Another place I'm really starting to enjoy is Cooper's Alehouse!

Ka-Kaw!!!
Tonight I'm headed back to, you guessed it, Naked City!  Can't wait!

First Up!

I start working with my first client of Shauna Kroeger Designs!  She's actually one of my very favorite people, and I'm so excited to get my hands all over her space (that sounded dirtier than I meant!).

I'm super excited to share afters!

Shauna Kroeger Designs

Hello friends! I'm attempting to embark on a new adventure: eDesign, which is basically online inspiration boards tailored to your room's needs.

I created a website, Shauna Kroeger Designs, and now all I need are some customers!

In an attempt to build my portfolio, I'd love to offer a couple of these design boards to some friends. If you or someone you know would like to take me up on the offer, please message me! And check out my website!

I'm really excited to try my hand at eDesign!  It will be a challenge, but I'm ready for something new in my life!

Leopard Bed for Mia

If there's one thing I'm obsessed with, it's dog beds.  I have to keep myself from buying every single cute one I see, and I'm only able to restrain myself when I remember the shoebox we live in!!
However, when I had some leftover memory foam that was just the right size for a dog bed, I just had to make Mia another snuggle palace!
I ordered a yard of velboa fabric, which I've never heard of before, but it's a lot like fleece but fuzzier.  It was perfect for this project!  I think this is the one I ordered
I decided to use the same method of those DIY fleece blankets (click here if you've never heard of them) and just tie the fabric on around the foam.
After cutting out the corners, I worked in sections cutting fringe and tying it together.  I don't have a picture of the actual tying process, but it was as straight forward as it sounds!
And then Mia had another bed to lounge on!  Of course, she doesn't actually use it.  This picture was a fluke because I put it in her normal laying spot!
However, she did lay on it yesterday!  I was working from home and I put the bed at my feet, and look what happened:
Yippie!  That's a pretty weird looking position to lay in, but I still love that fur ball!

Shelf Switcheroo

Last time you saw Tim's bathroom shelves, they looked like this:
Recently, they had a little facelift and went from being loud and crazy to calm and serene:
This new fabric is a black and white birch tree pattern!
I just peeled the old fabric off the cardboard templates that I made, and glued the new stuff right back on!

Now I just need to get around to styling these shelves...

What do you think of the new fabric?

Until next time,

The Next Lance Dogstrong

For Christmas, Mia got an adorable bike basket from my mom!
It's a heck of a lot better than when we tried to take our old dog Holly for a ride!  She was 15 pounds heavier than Mia...

But Mia is nice and tiny!  We're really looking forward to taking her for a real ride!

Ah, such nerds!
