Welcome to the Jungle

First off, I'm really not the best photographer, especially in weird lighting (which is every spot in my house), and I'm way too lazy to edit photos, so please bear with me with the less than spectacular pictures below!!  I've got to beg Sar or my mom to come take good pictures for me!

Anyways, take a look at our gussied up entry way!  This teeny tiny space has undergone a number of easy, fast, and cheap renovations that make a big impact!

The most dramatic switcheroo is our front door.  I painted it a bold glossy black!
I know the pictures don't do it justice- I swear it doesn't look all splotchy in person!

I can't even tell you how much I'm in love with this black door!!!  I've always loooooooved black doors.  I'm itching to paint our bedroom door the same color....

Inside the door, I painted it a dark purple for a subtle pop of color.  I'm kind of thinking it would be fun to re-paint it gold.  What do you think?
See that adorable black and white striped basket?  That's from The Container Store.  So cute right?  Yes, I'm majorly into stripes.  Can't help it!

Mia loves it too, but not as much as her soccer ball!
Turn around and you're looking into the mini mudroom that Tim and made during the New Year
Since then it's been updated a tiny bit.  I made a no sew curtain from clearance fabric for $12 (with enough leftover to make two pillows as well!), and we added additional hooks around the sides.

Another "big impact project" was adding the same vinyl tiles that we put in our kitchen and bathroom.
It looks so much more polished with the subfloor covered up!

We also got a new light fixture, one of the things we actually splurged on instead of finding some hand me down of item on the street that I fixed up.
 Ain't she purrrrty?
Photographing lights are hard.
Finally, following the gallery wall down leads the teal dresser that now holds our TV.
That black trash can is actually a cheap plastic clear one from Target that I slathered with black paint and black glitter.  Yes, I glitterized a trash can, I am a lady.
The gold hammered bowl was found at Goodwill
My two Holly GoLightly's are hanging out, keeping watch on my catalogs.
There you have it!  What do you think?

Until next time,
