DIY Deck Bench

During Memorial Day weekend, Tim and I were busy working on a new piece of furniture for our deck:
A bench!  We wanted to get some much needed organization to our deck, and a bench fit our needs perfectly!  It would provide a place to hide our compost and our other storage bin, while giving us more seating or places to pile more junk ;)!

Before I show the building process, you might want to see how our deck looked beforehand:
Messy, messy, dirty, and messy!  With summer approaching I cleared out all the trash and random items so we could at least walk out there!

Then we built the bench and voila:
All clean and pretty!  I've even spent the last week cleaning all the paint, stains, and dirt and I'll show you the before and after soon!

As for the bench, I followed these directions from Ana White, adjusting as necessary.  If you've never heard of Ana White, she has a ton of plans for all sorts of furniture that are easy to follow!

Lets take a look at that before one last time:
And the after:

Yay for the bench!!! If you can't tell, I'm super excited about it!!!  Pretty soon I'll post about our whole deck's newist digs, so make sure to check back!

  1. What a smart idea! Love that it is good for storage and a place to sit, good way to use space. I need to look at your post on composting too (provided you have one, I'm sure you do) as I would love to start doing that but have no idea where to start.

I love hearing your comments! Thanks for stopping by!
