Thursday Thoughts

I don't normally do these, but Sar's created a link up, so might as well!

I just read a really interesting artical in the Washington Post.  It was a bit of a social experiment in Washington D.C., where the famous musician Joshua Bell played a concert in a Metro station and the thousands of people walking by barely acknowledged him.  It posed a very interesting question:  Do we notice beauty in mundane situations?
Christine Gregoire just announced her support of gay marriage in Washington.  She wants us to become the 7th state to offer gay marriage in the country, and I couldn't be happier!  Right now, we have an "everything but the actualy name marriage" law, so if we do decide to pass it, it's going to be a great day!  "My church, and any church, can exercise their freedom in deciding who to marry: The state should not engage in discrimination."
I started my first class back at college on Tuesday.  I'm taking Intro to Environmental Science, and it's already very interesting!  I don't know why I didn't just major in science the first time through college- I've always loved chemistry!
I'm hoping to get outside to do a little hiking this weekend!  Tim and I haven't been out for quite awhile and I miss the fresh air!
How mad is everyone that Taylor Swift got offered the role of Eponine in the upcoming Les Miz movie instead of Lea Michele??  I know I'm a little too obsessed with Lea Michele, but cmon!

  1. Your number one really struck me! Really makes me think about what I notice...and what I should be noticing!

    Visiting from thursday thoughts :)

  3. 1) I've seen a TED Talk on the Joshua Bell concert before (I think it was a TED talk anyway?) and agreed..maybe we're getting way too caught up with the destination and forget about the process.

    2) WOOHOO! Big fan of gay marriage. Or, "marriage," as us liberals call it.

    3) I'm so excited that you're taking some classes! I didn't realize you were going back to college, but congrats! Nick used to teach an Intro to Enviro Science course.

    4) JEALOUS.

    5) I don't know Les Miz very well, but I'm sure there was a good reason...? ;)

Happy Thursday! Glad you're joining in!
