Top Twelve Thursday: Christmas Edition!

Since a few Christmas obsessed buddies and I have already been listening to Christmas music for a few weeks now and I wanted make a top twelve list of my favorite Christmas songs!  Sure, it may only be November 10th, but I saw my favorite commercial the other day (the one with the little girl sneaking up to PNB's Nutcracker), so I think it's officially OK!  So without further ado (and in absolutely no particular order):
  1. River- Joni Mitchell This song is amazing, and peaceful.  There's an amazing new version by Lea Michele as well, but there's nothing quite like Joni Mitchell.  I wouldn't exactly call this a Christmas song so much as it's a song that happens to take place during Christmas, but since I just realized last year that it's considered a Christmas song, it goes on the list!
  2. Christmas Eve is Sarajevo- Trans-Siberian Orchestra I still remember the first time I heard this song, in Mrs. Zapatka's HID class, when we wrote descriptive essays about the song after listening to it.  Well, I fell in love with this composition!  Tim and I have been dying to go to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert for forever, and although they come here every year, we've yet to go!
  3. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas- Judy Garland This song makes me both really happy and makes me want to cry.  The way Judy Garland's voice seems to
  4. White Christmas- The Drifters Ahhh this makes me think of the Santa Claus (even though it was featured in Home Alone first!).  A nod to my obsession with 60's music.
  5. Carol of the Bells  Any version of this song is amazing! A+!
  6. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)- Hanson Another great Hanson classic.  Mariah Carey's version is one of my favorite too: Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)- Mariah Carey
  7. Merry Christmas Baby- Hanson  Ah I still remember back in 1997 when I was anxiously awaiting this CD"s release, and I was waiting at the door for my dad to come home and take me to Target to buy this CD..with my own money no less!  This is the first song you hear when you put the CD in, and it's always the first song I listen to each year.  The beginning fake snow sound makes me think of when my brother found this track put up on Hanson's website so we could hear it before the CD was released, and I still think of that moment every time I listen to this song.
  8. O Holy Night/Silent Night/O Come All Ye Faithful Melody- Hanson This mashup of three great Christmas songs is just so awesome and amazing!!  If you've never heard it, then listen to it immediately!
  9. All I Want for Christmas- Mariah Carey ......duh.....!!  Best Christmas song ever!
  10. O Holy Night- Mariah Carey Another great version by Mariah!  She does all her Christmas songs up right, and this one is no exception!
  11. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen- Glee A newish classic, I love all the girl's from Glee teaming up on this song.  It's rapidly become one of my favorites.
  12. My list also includes what's actually a New Year's Eve song: Auld Lang Syne- Mairi Campbell.  If this was a Christmas song, it would definitely have made the top ten list.  It's another one of those 'makes you want to cry yet still so happy' songs.
I've just realized that this list sounds so pop-ish, but it sure makes me giddy!
What are your top ten favorite Christmas songs??  I'm dying to know!  Link up below if you want to make a list of your own!
