Weekend Update

Hello fellow bloggers!  Hope your Fourth of July weekends were fantastic!  My three day weekend actually felt relaxing and like it stretched on for a few days, so I was happy!!  Tim and I went on our first ever backpacking trip with another couple and I'm happy to report we're still alive and didn't get attacked by any elk or bears!  But more on that trip later!  Yesterday, after we got home from the peninsula (and a fabulous brunch with my parents!), we decided that a gorgeous day calls for some deck plant shoppin' so we made the rounds at Lowe's and Home Depot and scored this haul:

While we were at Lowe's, I found some amazing succulent baskets that I was drooling over (remember my love for succulents?):

We've been toying over weather to hang a hanging basket on the already installed hook on the ceiling of our deck, but haven't found one we love yet.  I might take a cue from the top picture and try making a succulent garden.  The only problem is that the hook is right above where my chair sits, so I might either add a second hook or make a succulent garden as a center piece for the table instead.  We shall see....

I was super excited to get home and re-pot all our plants with our organic soil- which was a major upgrade from the three year old dried out soil we had been using all this time.

A third indoor plant for our living room's triple plant stand

Red bell pepper plant for the deck!

So pretty and ready to grow us yummy vegetables!
The bell pepper plant above came in a very cool biodegradable pot that I tore in half and crumbled into the bottom of the pot before adding soil and replanting the rest of it.  The only waste that came with this plant was a tiny plastic wrapper along the top.  I love being able to make these small green choices that really add up to a big impact on the planet.

Lastly, we bought a couple flowers for our railing.  I opted for all white flowers so I could get a cohesive green, aqua and white color scheme going on the deck.  It just makes for a serene atmosphere out there!

All ready to be planted!

How pretty are we?  See the new watering can in the background?  About time we picked one up, eh?

Here's a little sneak peek at a future project that's going on in the bathroom...and hallway...and maybe the kitchen?  Stay tuned:
