Darling Dandy-licious Damask

I love damask. A little more than natural. If it was up to me, I would plaster my entire house from top to bottem with it...unfortunately my fiance won't let me. According to him, damask print is good in small doses, not everywhere. Joke's on him when he gets to our wedding....

A few random picks:

Cool vinyl stickers

To wear in the kitchen...

A magnetic board for love notes. Adorable <3 br="">

Pretty pillows in cool kiwi

A suitcase bed? Awesome!

Happy hunting :)

To Sofa or Not...

Well as our living room seems to be smaller than we keep imagining it, I've realized that we will probably need a new, smaller couch to make the living room livable.

Right now, we have a dark purple couch from Ikea and I love it. The color matches my scheme perfectly, so I'm going to be very sad to see it go...however, I've also always wanted a white leather couch (or black!) so here's an opportunity to get a leather loveseat that matches our "Poang Chair". Our chair has a black frame with a "natural" cushion, so finding a white couch that matches might be a problem.

We'll probably still go to Ikea, since we are on a budget, so here are our options we decided on:

First, our current chair:

And the following are the different accompaning options:

Pro's: Leather, very comfy
Con's: Expensive, not sure if the color will match the chair

Pro's: Leather, the color matches, very comfy
Con's: Expensive

Pro's: Cheaper, comfy
Con's: White is too white

Pro's: Cheaper, comfy, color will match well
Con's: Will the room be too dark?

I had a few other options, but I've eliminated them in my head based on their size and non-comfy factor. I'm torn between these four options though. My head is telling me the black leather will look best, but maybe the white leather will still match? They don't have to go together perfectly, but just be close enough. And then there are the other two, the black fabric couch will probably be a good bet as well. What's your vote?

Gifts that love

Since I just bought a condo and have a wedding in 7 weeks, I've been forced to go on a shopping hiatus. But...I can still internet browse! And to reduce the temptation of buying something for myself, I decided to get a jumpstart on gathering ideas for future present shopping.

It all started yesterday when I was looking for bridal shower favors. I was browsing the Endagered Species Chocolate site and found this great idea for my fiancĂ©’s cat-lover sister. Chocolate + helping animals? Check!

From there, I began to hunt for eco-friendly, fair-trade, and recycled gifts for everyone on my list. A few of my favorites:

A bamboo tray from Thailand that supports fair trade. From originalgood.com

This vegan moisturizer from Lush.com sends 100% of the profits from this product to help support animal rights, environmental protection and humanitarian concerns.

This beautiful necklace provides shelter and food for homeless animals. Find it at shop.theanimalrescuesite.com

A gorgeous market bag for the farmers market or grocery store, from Fair Trade Online Store

Purchase 2290 sq ft of rainforest for your peace-loving friend, at shop.therainforestsite.com

Yummy soap at shop.theliteracysite.com donates a children's book at only $5.50 each

The Animal Rescue Site>: A Himalayan Natural Salt Crystal Candle Holder- fund 14.0 bowls of food for animals living in sanctuaries and shelters

The Nature Conservancy: Gifts from Nature. Plant some trees in Brazil, adopt an acre in Australia, and much much more.

Changing the Present: Darfar Stoves- for $30, buy a stove for a women in Darfar and help her obtain some much needed income to provide basic nessecities for her family

Now there are a million ways to give while giving, and these are just the tip of the iceberg. Why not make the world a teensy bit better while brightening up a loved one's day?

Acoustic #3

You know when you're listening to a song that has that perfect sentiment? It's the perfet beat, it's got just that right amount of 'oomph' and the singer's voice makes your spine tingle? Not nessecaily becuase s/he has a great voice, but because the sound of the lyrics combined with the melody makes you wanna lay in the grass and stare at the ocean, or look solemly into someone's eye in an entirely-too-corny happy movie kinda way.

When I find a song like that, I tend to listen to it repeatively until months later when it's lost it's tingle-ascity on me. The other day I came upon one of those songs while listening to Pandora- Acoustic #3 by the Goo Goo Dolls.

They painted up your secrets
With the lies they told to you
And the least they ever gave you
Was the most you ever knew

And I wonder where these dreams go
When the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screaming?
No one's listening anyway

Your voice is small and fading
And you hide in here unknown
And your mother loves your father'
Cause she's got nowhere to go

And she wonders where these dreams go'
Cause the world got in her way
What's the point in ever trying?
Nothing's changing anyway

They press their lips against you
And you love the lies they say
And I tried so hard to reach you
But you're falling anyway

And you know I see right through you'
Cause the world gets in your way
What's the point in all this screaming?
You're not listening anyway
