Gifts that love

Since I just bought a condo and have a wedding in 7 weeks, I've been forced to go on a shopping hiatus. But...I can still internet browse! And to reduce the temptation of buying something for myself, I decided to get a jumpstart on gathering ideas for future present shopping.

It all started yesterday when I was looking for bridal shower favors. I was browsing the Endagered Species Chocolate site and found this great idea for my fiancĂ©’s cat-lover sister. Chocolate + helping animals? Check!

From there, I began to hunt for eco-friendly, fair-trade, and recycled gifts for everyone on my list. A few of my favorites:

A bamboo tray from Thailand that supports fair trade. From originalgood.com

This vegan moisturizer from Lush.com sends 100% of the profits from this product to help support animal rights, environmental protection and humanitarian concerns.

This beautiful necklace provides shelter and food for homeless animals. Find it at shop.theanimalrescuesite.com

A gorgeous market bag for the farmers market or grocery store, from Fair Trade Online Store

Purchase 2290 sq ft of rainforest for your peace-loving friend, at shop.therainforestsite.com

Yummy soap at shop.theliteracysite.com donates a children's book at only $5.50 each

The Animal Rescue Site>: A Himalayan Natural Salt Crystal Candle Holder- fund 14.0 bowls of food for animals living in sanctuaries and shelters

The Nature Conservancy: Gifts from Nature. Plant some trees in Brazil, adopt an acre in Australia, and much much more.

Changing the Present: Darfar Stoves- for $30, buy a stove for a women in Darfar and help her obtain some much needed income to provide basic nessecities for her family

Now there are a million ways to give while giving, and these are just the tip of the iceberg. Why not make the world a teensy bit better while brightening up a loved one's day?

  1. Yummy soap? weird. I like the bamboo tray. Can't wait to get that tax rebate back for the condo so we can get back to normal budget! haha.
